I've been spending the past new weeks hanging around the city and discovering what it had to offer. some of which happened to be gas works park, a park that took advantage of the industrial wasteland, and made it a mini monument to the city's industrial heritage. it is an old natural gas compressor facility that pumped natural gas to thousands of customers homes in the seattle area, circa early 1900's.

there happened to be some special day for sailboats apparently this day... everyone from the rich to the incredibly rich came out in full force with sails up that day. why, i have no idea. i think that is just what rich people do when the weather is nice.

As much as I positively love being in seattle, i do my best to get out in the wild as frequently as possible. the mountains are an escape from everything man made. washington state and national forest services have done a marvelous job not letting the forests get developed.

these two shots are from middle fork - snoqualmie river.

however, just because washington is known as the evergreen state, doesn't mean it doesnt have other climates. In fact, a good chunk of the state is actually very rocky desert. for the casual road tripper, this is wanapum dam area, right by I-90.
